YOUTH / TRANSITION SERVICES
Our Youth Services Program works with students with disabilities, families and schools to explore educational options and to offer assistance with transition into independent community living as an adult.
The Youth Services Coordinator provides information and referral services to students with disabilities and their parents on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as well as education and advocacy in the school system.
Advocates for Access hosts informational workshops and training for parents, students, teachers, and all other interested community members and works to provide social and recreational opportunities for youth with disabilities to network, talk about their future plans and develop social skills.
The Youth Services Coordinator is available to visit schools and youth organizations to talk about services or provide presentations on disability awareness to students with and without disabilities.
Youth Volunteer Opportunities
Advocates for Access offers opportunities to youth with disabilities to volunteer at our center. Our volunteers gain confidence and valuable vocational experiences. Advocates for Access can then serve as a reference when the student applies for his or her first job.
